Remote Explosion-Proof Mist Cannon Machines: Tame Sand Yard Dust

​In sand and stone yards, crushers roar as they crush large stones into aggregates, and conveyor belts carry sand and gravel shuttling back and forth. The dust problem in sand and stone yards has its particularity: the dust particles at the outlet of the crusher are heavy and concentrated, with an extremely fast diffusion speed; the dust at the transfer point of the conveyor belt rises with the air flow, forming a long “dust belt”; after being exposed to wind and sun, the surface of the material pile will 泛起 dust “ripples” when slightly disturbed. What’s more, the yard is mostly in an open environment with a large operating area and numerous equipment. Ordinary dust suppression equipment either requires manual close-range operation, which has safety risks, or has insufficient coverage, making it difficult to achieve full-area dust suppression.​

The equipment is equipped with an industrial-grade wireless transmission module, allowing operators to remotely control it through a remote control in the central control room 100 meters away. It can not only adjust the spray angle, range, and fog volume but also preset multiple spray routes, enabling the mist cannon machine to automatically cruise and work according to the set trajectory. This design has completely changed the traditional mode of requiring manual on-site operation, avoiding personnel exposure to high-dust and high-risk areas.​

Key components of the machine adopt an flameproof structure. The motor, junction box, and other parts have all passed the Ex dⅡCT5 explosion-proof certification, enabling safe operation in environments full of combustible dust. The surface of the equipment is treated with anti-static technology, effectively eliminating static sparks generated by friction, eradicating potential safety hazards from the source, and fully meeting the explosion-proof safety standards of sand and stone yards.​

Equipped with a large-flow high-pressure pump set and special turbine nozzles, the maximum spray distance can reach 120 meters, and the spray angle covers 320 degrees. A single machine can cover an operating area of 43,900 square meters. For key dust sources such as material piles, crushers, and conveyor belts, it can form a high-density fog curtain to lock dust at the source.

A large sand and stone yard in Vietnam was repeatedly interviewed by environmental protection departments due to dust problems. Covering an area of 150 mu, the yard processes 2,000 tons of stone materials every day. The central control room controlled them through a remote system linkage: when the crusher starts, the corresponding mist cannon machine automatically turns on the strong fog mode; the mist cannon machine on the top of the material pile sprays regularly according to the preset route; in case of strong winds, the system automatically adjusts the fog volume according to the wind speed to avoid dust diffusion.​

Three months after operation, the environment of the yard has changed significantly: third-party testing showed that the dust concentration in the work area was stable below 1.2mg/m³, meeting the national health standards. Workers reported that they could breathe much more smoothly after taking off their masks. The dust accumulation on the surface of the equipment was reduced, and the maintenance cycle was extended from 1 month to 3 months, saving more than 20,000 yuan in monthly maintenance costs. Complaints from surrounding villagers have dropped to zero, and the yard was also awarded the title of “Environmental Protection Demonstration Enterprise”.​

The intelligent management system of the remote explosion-proof mist cannon machine can record equipment operation data in real-time, including spray duration, water consumption, and fault warnings, facilitating managers to grasp the dust suppression situation and optimize the operation plan. Its water-saving performance is also very prominent. Compared with traditional sprinklers, it can save more than 50% of water under the same dust suppression effect.​

For large yards with multi-area distribution, the cluster control function of the equipment is particularly practical.
